![]() ![]() Yes you'd get more powerful than what it's balanced for, but that's the fun of it, grinding until you get absolutely ridiculous, and if it goes far enough those upgrades could all become not overpowered with enough damage scaling and complexity ![]() At the same time, I would still need to choose what to upgrade first starting from level 1 all the way to 100 while I'm levelling. Such changes or additions might never happen.)Įven if you are level 100 you can still choose to not put all your points in. (Again, this depends entirely on the game's future development. Existing upgrades can be tweaked without necessarily forcing others to be rebalanced to compensate, and new upgrades can be added for the same reason. One other benefit, that may or may not apply, is that restricting power in such a way arguably makes it a bit easier to expand the game with new content. Do you burn all those points to get the safety net of being able to keep an item between runs, or do you assume that you will be able to get what you need before you need it? Being able to max everything would remove those kinds of decisions. Do you focus on one or two stats, or do you go for minor boosts in multiple fields? If you want to maximize the benefits of the restaurant (which can earn you plenty of stat boosts through a longer run), then you might want to go for boosted gold and stomach size. It also makes the player have to choose what upgrades they actually want, which can change based on how you want to play the game. ![]() A character that had maxed everything will be much stronger than the game is necessarily balanced for. While many of the upgrades might not seem particularly useful, they do add up, as do the stat bonuses themselves. Think you should be able to max out all the upgrades.
